A group a words which makes a complete sense.

OR

A sentence is a group of words arranged in a specific order to express an idea, fact, question, thought, request, or command. But can you place words in any order and still make a sentence? No! Simple sentence

A simple sentence has one cluse with one finite verb in it s predicate phrase.

Declarative sentence

A sentence which make a statement is call a declarative sentence.

Interrogative sentence

A sentence which is used to ask questions call an interrogative sentence

Imperative sentence

A sentence which expresses the order, command, advice, request is call Imperative sentence

Example-Let us go home now (subject we)

Exclamatory sentence – A sentence which expresses surprise, admiration, sorrow is call exclamatory sentence

Pattern of simple sentence

Subject + verb (Example- Birds flay)

Indirect object – person

Compliment is related with subject.

Compliment cannot be passive. ( Am, Is, Are, Was, Were, Be, Become ,Look, Appear)

Example- He become Docter.

Example- They elected him chairman.

COMPOUND SENTENCE

A compound sentence contains two or more co-ordinate clause .

Co-ordinating conjunction- Both……and, and, or otherwise, yest, still, for

Therefor, nevertheless, either……or, neither…..nor, not only……but also other else

Example

The moon was bright, and we could see our way.

The boy is clever. He is handsome ( Both, And)

The boy is both clever and handsome

Call in the doctor at once. The man may die. (other Wisers)

Call in the doctor at once otherwise the man may die.

He is not rich. He is happy. (yet)

He is not rich, yeat he is happy.
